Small Group Life at CLC…

Where Relationships, Discipleship, and Life Happens!

At Christian Life Center we believe discipleship begins in relationship and ends in life application. Therefore, it is our desire that everyone have the opportunity to connect with one another, grow in their faith and develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. A Small Group is just one option “to do” life together here at CLC, so whether you join a small group, attend one of our Next Step classes, or serve in a ministry… you choose, we’ll help.

Small Groups at CLC are unique and offer a smaller, more intimate group environment where you can find a place to belong and find friends who will encourage, support and care for you as you go through the celebrations and trials of life. Small Groups are a community of 6-15 people who meet for social connection and together learn how to apply God’s Word to their daily lives. These groups typically meet in the neighborhoods surrounding Christian Life Center, and are comprised of all ages, all genders, families, couples, singles and coed groups.

STUDENT MINISTRIES @ CLC

Spring JR. HIGH Small Group Opportunities

In Jr. High, we believe that life-change happens best in a small group.  Groups for Jr. High consist of 5-10 same gender, roughly the same grade students and one leader.  They meet twice a month during Jr. High Midweek (7-8:30 Wednesdays in the SLC).  Small Group time is spent discussing the topic we are currently studying as well as connecting about what is happening in each other’s lives.

Our purpose for groups is that our leaders will:

PRAY – The leader will pray for his/her students by name on a daily basis.

REACH – The leader must each Wednesday have his/her Small Group Roster become a “HIT-LIST,” looking for each student, making sure to talk with each student, and taking note of who is missing.

MISS – This goes with the previous one, but this will lead to a student being specifically missed by a leader, rather than a computer telling us they haven’t been here!  The leader, Assistant Leader, or a group member should contact students missing their second week in a row.

CONNECT – The leader must connect with his/her students outside of Jr. High Midweek at least once per month.

HONOR – Catch your students doing something good and honor them for it!  Be creative!

PLAY – Each group will hold an outside fun activity once per school year.

SERVE – Each group will serve as a group in ministry at least once per school year.

Not ready to be a part of a Small Group?  Not interested?  That’s OK.  We’ve got a solution for you!  Students not in a Small Group meet with in the Large Group in the Game Room during Small Group time.  This group quickly reviews the topics talked about during the lesson time, then hangs out for fellowship in the Game Room.

Discovering God's Will

April 11 – May 2 @ 6pm. Determining God's will can be a difficult process, especially when we need to make a decision in a hurry. In this series, Andy Stanley discusses the providential will of God, the moral will of God, and the personal will of God. He describes how God uses other people and the principles of scripture to guide us as we attempt to discover the personal vision God has for our lives. What Goes On In a Typical Small Group?

Fellowship

This is the “life-sharing” element of our small groups where --- just in the midst of a group’s time together – people are laughing, having fun, crying, praying, helping one another, encouraging one another, supporting another, and even sometimes just being available to listen. Everyone who attends a group has something to offer the others in it!

Spiritual Growth

Through studying, discussing and applying God’s Word, your small group will help you to grow to be more like Jesus in your character. We all recognize that it’s easy to “want to” grow Sometimes we all need a little extra encouragement and accountability to do those things God is showing us we need to do. You will find your small group to be a place where you both give and receive encouragement to take steps of faith and obedience in response to how God is working in your life.

Service to Others

Your small group is a perfect place to use the spiritual gifts god has given you. Where it’s leading the discussion or the prayer time, coordinating a social, keeping track of the prayer requests or volunteering your home for groups meetings, you can serve the other group members in a variety of ways. Additionally, groups are encouraged to service projects together.

Reaching Out

The Bible clearly teaches that you were made for a mission: God wants you to share His Good News with others. In your small group you will receive encouragement and prayer support as you try to live out this exciting aspect of your Christian life (You may also find that your small group will become a place where you can bring your un-churched friends who are seeking to learn more about Christianity and a personal relationship with God through Jesus.)

Worship

Surrendering who you are for god to use for His honor is the essence of worship. Your small group will encourage one another to continually live with this mindset and to make yourselves available to God for Him to use you as He sees fit. Beyond this, some of the groups do have a praise and singing time or a tie or prayer that focuses on praise and adoration of God.
